According to a survey conducted by research company Saar Poll, East Tallinn Central Hospital is the No. 1 hospital choice for women in Tallinn and Harju county. The aim of the survey was to get feedback on women’s clinics, maternity hospitals and medical institutions carrying out cancer screenings.

According to a survey conducted by research company Saar Poll, East Tallinn Central Hospital is the No. 1 hospital choice for women in Tallinn and Harju county. The aim of the survey was to get feedback on women’s clinics, maternity hospitals and medical institutions carrying out cancer screenings.

The survey revealed that women primarily choose a women’s clinic based on their previous experience and where they already have a familiar doctor (more than 50% or respondents). Regular check-ups were cited most frequently as the main reason for visiting a women’s clinic (65%). The high quality of medical care provided (49%) and having a caring and patient-centred approach (32%) were highlighted as the most important criteria for choosing a medical institution.

The Clinic of East Tallinn Central Hospital was highly valued among the respondents and was recognised above all for its friendly and caring service (98%), sufficient time and attention given to patients (96%) and professional medical care with a solution to the problem (94%).

For their next appointment, most respondents would opt for the same clinic they went to the last time. 79% of women who had their last appointment in East Tallinn Central Hospital would visit the same clinic again. However, of all those who responded to the survey, just over one out of four women (26%) in Tallinn and Harju county would choose East Tallinn Central Hospital for their next gynaecologist appointment.

To the question “Which hospital would you choose for giving birth to your next child?”, 46% of women chose the maternity hospital of East Tallinn Central Hospital. Maternity hospitals are predominantly chosen based on their location or previous experience. Professional medical service (98%), hospitalisation conditions (delivery and family rooms) (97%) and a friendly and caring service (96%) were highlighted as the main strengths of East Tallinn Central Hospital maternity hospital.

With regard to screenings, 66% of targeted professional women who had received an invitation said they took part in the screening for cervical cancer and 46% took part in the screening for breast cancer. East Tallinn Central Hospital was mentioned most often as the place for undergoing cervical cancer screening and the most common reason for not going to the screening was a prior examination had been performed recently. Women who had received an invitation to take part in breast cancer screening mostly did not go due to lack of time.

700 women aged 15-70 years living in Tallinn and Harju county took part in the representative survey. The survey was conducted in Estonian and Russian using a combined method of telephone-based and online survey.
