Doctors from East Tallinn Central Hospital continue to see patients at Kuressaare Hospital
Ear, nose and throat specialists Dr Mare Kalvet and Erik Luht from East Tallinn Central Hospital are available for appointments at Kuressaare Hospital on a monthly basis.
Ear, nose and throat specialist Dr Mare Kalvet stressed that she often sees patients from Saaremaa come for an appointment on the mainland because they are not aware that it is possible to have a consultation with an ear, nose and throat specialist at Kuressaare Hospital. She said that people from Saaremaa are welcome to have a consultation on site and need not travel to the mainland to get the service they need.
"Children and adults alike can receive out-patient and surgical care right here," Dr Kalvet explained. "We can examine nasal airflow (rhinomanometry) and perform various hearing tests. We are able to decide which patients can be treated on their home island and which patients must be referred to mainland Estonia for further treatment and then organise their referral."
"Patients who need complex surgery and suffer from a variety of underlying illnesses will be asked to resume treatment under our care on the mainland. It is possible to prescribe, install and adjust high-quality hearing aids at Kuressaare Hospital," added Dr Kalvet. "Kuressaare Hospital also offers separate appointments with nurses, meaning that every patient will be able to find a solution for their complaint."
Doctors from East Tallinn Central Hospital are available for appointments in six specialty areas: oncology, neurology, rheumatology, gynaecology as well as ear, nose, throat conditions and eye conditions.
