Use of donor egg cells for in-vitro fertilisation

If a woman has no chance of becoming pregnant with her genetic material (egg cells), the use of a donor egg cell is the only way to get pregnant.

An embryo from an egg cell of a woman who is up to 35 years old can be transferred to another woman. If the donor is a relative of the woman seeking artificial insemination, the donor can also be older than 35 with the consent of the woman seeking artificial insemination.

Donors will undergo a through medical examination before transferring their eggs and all obligatory tests are performed on them.

Data published about the donors (egg cell and sperm cell donors): nationality, skin colour, education, marital status, existence of children, height, build, hair colour and eye colour.

More information can be obtained from the midwife or your attending physician.
