Photodynamic therapy

Photodynamic therapy is mainly used for the treatment of superficial skin cancers and precancerous conditions.

A drug (photosensitiser) will firstly be applied to the treatment area, after which light with a specific wavelength will be used to achieve the therapeutic effect. Neoplastic cells will be destroyed in the interaction between light and the drug.
