Isotope cystography

This examination helps to detect a reflux or backflow between the urinary bladder and the ureter as well as its extent.

This examination is performed by inserting a temporary catheter into the urinary bladder via the urethra, through which saline solution with radioactive technetium (99mTc) shall be injected into the bladder. If the urinary bladder becomes full, the patient needs to urinate within the viewport of the machine.
