Outpatient appointment with a gastroenterologist

A person should see a gastroenterologist if a disease of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, or pancreas is suspected – the patient exhibits stomach ache, diarrhoea, anaemia, weight loss.

In case any additional tests are required, you will be contacted and an appointment date will be arranged. The necessary tests (endoscopy, ultrasound test, computed tomography, etc.) and analyses are arranged at the appointment. Many gastrointestinal diseases are chronic, and patients must remain under monitoring by the gastroenterologist. In this case, the gastroenterologist will prepare a referral letter for a return appointment (valid for 1 year); the patient can register themselves for a physician’s appointment with it after the prescribed time has passed.

A general practitioner’s referral letter is required. A general practitioner can also refer you to an appointment via prior e-consultation, to which the gastroenterologist will respond in up to 4 working days.

You may also come to a paid gastroenterologist’s appointment – in this case, a referral from a family physician is not required, but you must also keep in mind that all tests and analyses will also be fee based.
