ERCP

ERCP is the endoscopic examination of bile ducts and the pancreatic duct. The test is required for removing stones from the common bile duct, identifying tumours of the bile ducts/pancreas and treating complications (taking a biopsy, stenting).

The test may have serious complications – more commonly acute pancreatitis and bleeding, cholangitis. Therefore, this test is only performed for treatment purposes, if the illness has been diagnosed with a different method beforehand. We perform the study almost always under inpatient conditions.
