Removal of benign skin lesions

Diathermocoagulation, cryotherapy or a special instrument is used to remove benign lesions.

Diathermocoagulation is an electrosurgical treatment method that uses alternating current to remove various skin lesions. This method gives a good cosmetic result, and closing the wounds with stitches is not necessary.

Cryotherapy is the removal of benign skin lesions using liquid nitrogen. Liquid nitrogen freezes the water in the skin cells and when it melts, it breaks the bonds between the cells and forms a blister. As the blister heals, the growth will detach due to the blister.

Sometimes a special instrument can also be used to remove the lesions. The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia. This method gives a good cosmetic result.
