Konstantin Ridnõi, gynaecologist and chief physician at East Tallinn Central Hospital, defends his doctoral thesis on prenatal diagnosis

On 14 December, gynaecologist and chief physician Konstantin Ridnõi defended his doctoral thesis entitled “Implementation and effectiveness of new prenatal diagnostic strategies in Estonia” at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Tartu. The supervisors of the doctoral thesis were Professor Katrin Õunap and Associate Professor Tiia Reimand.

The doctoral thesis explores prenatal screening. The aim of prenatal screening is to identify pregnant women at increased risk of giving birth to a child with a chromosomal disease or a congenital anomaly and to provide specific diagnostic tests for this risk group.
