East Tallinn Central Hospital hosts visitors from U.S. Embassy on 3 June
On 3 June 2022, the defence cooperation department of the U.S. Embassy in Tallinn and the United States European Command visited the amputee rehabilitation department to learn about the centre’s renovation project established in 2014 as part of the United States Department of Defense Humanitarian Assistance Programme.
The purpose of the visit was to find out how the project was carried out by the representatives of the United States of America and to see how the department works on a daily basis and meets its objectives.
Visitors learned about the structure, team, work achievements and future plans of the department. They visited the amputee rehabilitation department and took a closer look at the prostheses manufacturing workshop. Prosthetist Madis Põri provided an in-depth overview of the manufacturing of prostheses. The visitors were introduced to our GRAIL system and Physiotherapist Oskar Põldmaa explained how it operates. The hospital staff also introduced the work of activity therapists and described how therapists prepare patients for day-to-day living.
The visitors were more than satisfied with what they saw and heard and thanked the hospital team for their good work.
ODC HA Manager Ms Maarja Paide, ODC Rotational FAO (driver) MAJ Zack Ciccalo, MAJ Daniel Smiljanich, MAJ Sean Malloy, SFC Jolyn Carroll and SGT George Jones were part of the US Embassy CLT team visiting the hospital.
Chairman of the Board Tarmo Bakler, Head of the Clinic of Medical Rehabilitation Kaupo Ole, Head of the Outpatient Rehabilitation Centre Katrin Olo-Laansoo, Prosthetist Madis Põri, Physiotherapist Oskar Põldmaa and Head of the Communications and Marketing Department Inge Suder welcomed the visitors on behalf of East Tallinn Central Hospital.
