Appointment with an endocrinologist
Endocrinologists diagnose and treat patients with thyroid-related problems: an overactive thyroid or parathyroid gland, a nodular thyroid gland or a thyroid malignancy. Patients with thyroid disease during pregnancy can also attend an appointment.
Endocrinologists perform ultrasound examinations of the thyroid gland, if necessary, and take a biopsy from the thyroid gland. Diabetics are the largest patient group for endocrinologists.
Patients with the following conditions can attend an endocrinologist appointment:
- Those experiencing problems with being overweight and who want to get a consultation on weight loss options
- Those diagnosed with benign tumour of the pituitary gland – acromegaly, i.e. growth hormone-producing tumour or prolactinoma
- Those with pituitary insufficiency and who require diagnostic tests and hormone replacement therapy
A referral from a family or specialist doctor is required to attend the appointment! Appointments are also available for a fee without a referral and with a shorter waiting time.
