Ultrasound doppler test of the superficial venous system
In modern varicose vein surgery, the scope of the surgery is determined by the extent of superficial venous system disease, which cannot be precisely evaluated through observation alone, since we are unable to see inside the subcutaneous tissue.
The routine ultrasound check used to examine the deep venous system is also irreplaceable when it comes to assessing the superficial venous system. During the examination it is determined where the visible varix flows and whether the disease also extends to the main strains of the superficial venous system (v. saphena magna or v. saphena parva).
